UBA Unions and Students to Hold Public Classes at Chief of Staff's Home

Buenos Aires, March 30 (NA) – University teacher unions and student groups from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) will hold a public class session this Tuesday in front of the undeclared luxury apartment where the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, lives in the Caballito neighborhood. The event aims to draw attention to the budgetary crisis facing Argentina's national public universities, amidst a scandal over the libertarian official's illicit enrichment. Activities will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday when the unions and student groups will meet at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters (Puan 480) of UBA before marching to Miró 500, where the minister-coordinator lives with his family, as he himself revealed during his last press conference at the Casa Rosada. This action is part of a 72-hour national strike called by the National University Front, which brings together major teacher federations such as Conadu and Conadu Histórica. The protest seeks to highlight the stark contrast between the precarious salaries at UBA, where a first-year assistant earns a mere 228,095 pesos net, and the lavish lifestyle maintained by the Head of Staff since joining the libertarian government. According to reconstructions by the Argentine News Agency, Adorni—who is impeached for illicit enrichment and under investigation for alleged anomalies in the hiring of private flights—and his wife, Bettina Angeletti, purchased the apartment in an exclusive area of Caballito in November 2025. Curiously, the property, acquired through a non-bank mortgage provided by the sellers, was registered at 230 thousand dollars, while the original sale price was 340 thousand dollars according to real estate publications. This controversy adds to the New York trip Angeletti took as part of the presidential entourage with a complimentary flight and stay, the trips to Punta del Este costing thousands of dollars on private flights without invoices, the undeclared country house in Exaltación de la Cruz, and the triangulation of contracts in favor of the consulting firm owned by Adorni's wife with state agencies.
